Several years ago I attended the screening of a film by the Humanist movement in Sydney, and had a subsequent lively discussion with a leading science lecturer from a major university. He invited me to join the group in a post screening dinner. During which the issue of the resurrection of Christ was discussed at the table. Which presented a major problem for these skeptics. I reminded them that it wasn't a matter of whether or not one believed that dead matter came to life, but rather under what circumstances. Indeed, they had a far greater problem. As they believed that dead matter brought ITSELF to life, and gradually transformed ITSELF into evey know form of life in existence. It's called the "Theory of Evolution". If they could actually believe that "undirected" chance events had produced a universe "tailor made" for life, and that dead matter had brought ITSELF to life, without a miracle worker. Than anything in the Bible would be, by comparison, a mere "walk in the park".
  FACT 1:

No unbeliever or skeptic can prove that God does not exist. If God exists He could well bring Christ or anybody else back to life.

  FACT 2:

Everyone believes that dead matter can come to life – even hard core atheists and evolutionists – They believe that matter brought itself to life and turned itself into you, me and Einstein. Atheists and skeptics believe in miracles without a miracle worker, which is “really” miraculous.

  FACT 3:

Skeptics argue that the resurrection was a highly improbable event, and therefore did not happen. But we are surrounded by "vastly improbable" realities on every side, and at every level. The fact that anything exists is vastly improbable, be it the universe, the origin of life, the human mind or even consciousness. We can add to this the vastly improbable fine tuning of atomic and sub-atomic particles, the finely tuned universe and cosmological constants, and even the unique nature of earth and the solar system.
  FACT 4:

Everyone agreed that Jesus was dead, they saw it happen. No one could survive a crucifixion, especially the way Christ was crucified, particularly with the spear thrust in his side. It was the worst form of execution the Romans could devise.

  FACT 5:

Everybody knew where the tomb was, because it was a rich man’s tomb, that of a well known Council member, Joseph of Arimathea. At the bequest of the High Priests, the tomb of Jesus was guarded by Roman soldiers to prevent anyone stealing the body, and claiming Jesus had risen.

  FACT 6:

Even the disciples were initially skeptical and unbelieving, until they saw the risen Christ, along with at least 500 other witnesses. All publicly declared that Jesus had risen from the dead in the very city and place he was executed and buried.

  FACT 7

All historical reports of that time show that even the enemies of Christ and Christianity acknowledged that the tomb was empty. This was a given fact that was never disputed, even by hostile groups involved.

  FACT 8:

The once timid disciples subsequently boldly proclaimed the FACT of Christ’s resurrection far and wide. Most eventually died as martyrs on the basis of this public declaration. People will not suffer hardship, rejection and deprivation, or give up their lives for something they KNOW to be a LIE.

  FACT 9:

As recorded by Pliny the Roman Diplomat, lawyer and writer, Governor of Brthynea, following the resurrection there was an explosion of believers. Along with an immediate and far reacting impact on both the Jew and Gentile.

  FACT 10:

The subsequent miracles performed by the disciples, in Christ’s name, together with the sudden explosion of believers and growth of the church affirms that something of great significance had occurred, and this is best explained by the reality of the resurrection. This was at a time when what occurred would have been public knowledge, and could have been publicly disproved by all those involved, including Pilate and the Roman authorities. No time for a legend to develop.
  FACT 11:

No one in all recorded history has located Christ’s body or found the tomb occupied, then or now.

FACT 12:

Based on these realities, it is far more difficult to go against the evidence and blindly believe that the resurrection of Christ did not occur, than to follow where all the evidence leads. The reality of the resurrection of Christ is rational, logical and historical. The facts leave us no other option.

Believers all over the world in each generation have personally experienced and witnessed the risen Christ in their lives in many and varied ways.
